Small is beautiful: tiny London hotel rooms

Stylistas tightening their purse strings no longer need to sneak out of mega-chain budget hotels wearing dark glasses and large-brimmed hat. Now they can hold their head up high sashaying around some of the chicest part of town.

Tiny – but chic – rooms can now be had in some of the world’s most fashionable hotels. Forget Japanese pod hotels and the blindingly purple Yotels.  Now you can bed down in London’s hottest new hotel from a mere £90 a night – per couple.

The owners of ultra-glam Soho House members club have just opened Dean Street Townhouse in a prime Soho location, and it has rooms starting at ‘Broom Cupboard’. These 15 sq m rooms have private shower room and ‘Granny Chic design’.

But if that much space makes you feel agoraphobic, book into TheLuxPod (book through Holiday-Rentals.co.uk) a swish holiday apartment on Gloucester Road in South Kensington, London with high-tech gadgets and the luxurious touches you’d expect to find in a five-star hotel room. But this 11 sq m studio is so bijou, it’s a bargain – £560 for a week for two people (although shorter lets are available).

While these sizes and prices might seem high to people who’ve never stayed in London hotels, for such prime locations, they’re an absolute bargain. And what’s more, the rooms, although tiny, have a hint of real luxury.

When you’re in a major city, you just don’t spend much time in your room, so while it’s always nice to have space to spread out, many people will be thrilled that they can finally afford to stay in such chic surroundings without busting their sightseeing budget.

Thank you so much for writing about TheLuxPod! It is an informative article. So far, all the reviews on Holiday-Rentals have ranked it no less than 5 out of 5. I believe TheLuxPod has more than a “hint” of real luxury – iPod dock, Bang & Olufsen, Boffi kitchen, top stitched leather floor, electrically operated blinds, remote control HDTV to name but a few.

It looks gorgeous & is so well equipped, but it can’t be 11 sq.m… surely that’s a typo?
